any lens you’ve spent a fair bit of money on, one of the most important things
you can do is protect the end element against scratching and salt and
dust and so on. And you also want to seal the end of the lens against moisture. Well a protective filter is one of the best to do it. The HD range of Hoya filters is very special. HD filters are a nice low profile frame so they are not gonna give you vignetting with ultra wide-angle lenses. They use a black alumite frame which stops reflections as well as a black rimmed glass. So again there is going to be no reflections off the glass or off the
frame on these filters. The use hardened glass or chemically hardened glass which is about four times harder than your standard filter. The particular filter when it is a HD filter has 8 coats on each side of the filter. These coatings give you basically 99.3% light transmission rate All that means folks is that when you put this on your lens you will see no difference in the quality of your images. But you have then protected your lens from fingerprints, its oil repellent as well
and water-repellent, scratch resistant and that hardened glass makes it very very hard to break. To protect your lenses, the Hoya HD Protector range is one of the best filters that you can buy today.
